Do you think humans cause global warming or is this a myth? Give reasons for and against humans causing global warming, think about local and global scale factors. Reply as comments.

  1. Global temperatures are increasing due to human activity. Rising level of CO2 and methane is caused by human activity. With this coming from the burning of fossil fuels such as coal and oil.

  2. I think that it's not a myth. global warning is naturally increasing because of the Earth's orbital geometry. The earth is moving closer to the sun and the climate is becoming hotter. Also, because of the human actives such as deforestation, air pollution etc. causes to speed up / increase even more global warming.

  3. I don't think this is a myth because our ozone layer is already being damaged because of the greenhouse gases produced by pollution, etc. Deforestation affects the oxygen supply of the world and pollution from factories, etc. produce more and more CO2 and poisonous gases because of advancing technologies and demand of supplies. In my opinion, this is at a 4 because it is not at a 'tipping point', this is already affecting global warming and impacting on the ozone layer, etc. and causing substantial damage to the world.

  4. I dont think this is a myth, man-made causes of global warming is much more significant than the natural causes. Examples include pollution, such as burning fossil fuels, since it gives out carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas. The earth's ozone layer is being damaged. Another big cause is the world's population. More humans means more food and transport, more burning of fossil fuels and more agriculture. So I think It's a 4, since there are a lot more manmade problems than natural ones.

  5. We believe that humans are speeding up the rate of global warming, but they are not fully causing the issue. The Earth is moving closer to the sun every year, which causes the overall temperature to increase. However, as humans have increased the consumption of electronics, more harmful pollutants such as carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide are being released into the air. These greenhouse gases are adding onto the ozone layer. When sun-rays pass the ozone layer, and reflect off the Earth, it is trapped inside. Therefore, the global temperature increases.

  6. I think I'm at around a +4. I think that humans are very responsible for global warming. There are a lot of natural factors like how the earth is moving closer to the sun. However, there are many human factors too, such as greenhouse gases, which are mostly responsible for the rise in temperature and C02. The additional Co2 comes mainly from coal and oil.
