when price increase quant decreases. Wheat belt moves north the place where you can grow wheat moves north. Rise in sea level because melting ice caps melting
Effect in general -Colder in some countries -Hotter in some countries -Extreme weather conditions -Animals may not be able to adapt
Food Patterns -Because of hotter and drier weather land to grow crops will decrease, therefore prices will rise -Area that grows wheat will move further north
Rising Sea levels -Sea levels rise because of melting ice sheets and glaciers (NOT icebergs), seawater expands as it gets hotter -e.g. Kiribati islands are completely flooded by sea water
The negative effects that climate change is having on the environment and people
OVERALL GLOBAL CLIMATE: • affect weather and long-term conditions in all parts of the world • colder weather • changing of food pattern • species of animals going extinct • more storms and floods in the UK • lack of snowfall in the mountains • many cities use water from glaciers
CHANGING PATTERN OF FOOD: • crop yields of countries close to the equator will decrease • lose almost ⅓ of maize crop • if climate change reduces harvests, food prices will rise and populations will be badly affects especially in sub-Saharan Africa. • reduce food security • 50% decrease in area of land to grow wheat • 'wheat belt' moves North • forced to consider new crops e.g plantain
RISING SEA LEVELS: • in 20th century, sea level rose by 88cm • caused by addition of water from the melting ice and the expansion of the sea water as it gets hotter • people are leaving low-lying coral islands before being engulfed by the sea • low lying costal lands are at risk of flooding e.g. London, New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
RETREATING/MELTING GLACIERS: • caused by increase in temp due to climate change • gulf stream will be diverted further south, leading to colder temperatures in western Europe • large fraction of glacier is melted away into the sea
very informative lesson, used a lot of specific data and figures.

Climate Change Effect in General -colder in some placers -hotter in some countries extreme weather conditions animals may not be able to adapt
Food Patterns -Because of hotter and other drier weather lead to grow crops will decrease therefore prices will rise. -Areas that grows wheat will move further north
Rising Sea Levels -Sea levels rise because of melting ice sheets and glaciers, seawater expands as it gets hotter -e.g Kirbati
1/3 reduction on maize Decrease in what harvest Food prices rise Supply vs demand Reduce food security. Sub-sharian apricot ‘Wheat belt’ moves north
NOT MELTING ICE BERS
MELTING ICE SHEETS AND GLACIERS THERMAL EXPANSION, WARM WATER TAKES UP MORE SPACE COASTAL FLOODING MANY CITIES USE WATER FROM GLACIER.
Rising Sea levels When the glacier melts the Sea levels rise seawater expands as it gets hotter
Chaning patter of food: if the climate changes, it reduces harvests, and the food prices will rise and populations will be effective because poor countries cant afford the food. Wheat belt moves north ⅓ reduction on maize

Guys here is a great map to show the effects of sea level rise.
